Love the yellow, reminds me of that background from them spagghetios.
Remove all the other colours, the blue HAS to go, person on the ground, make him a complete black silhouette, guns either also black or white, remove the puddle of blood, it looks cartoonish almost.
Yellow and black only, and this piece would be perfect.
I disagree about the blue. I think it links the two parts nicely.
Guy with the bottle: Perfect! Don't change a thing.
Shot guy: I had trouble telling the bottom black shape was his gun in holster. Likewise, the gun in hand doesn't look quite Western, more like a semi-automatic. I'd agree that the red is a bit too bright. I'm not sure about the shape of the blood spot. Maybe a very, very subtle fountain fill going from the bright red to a slightly darker shade from top to bottom, as the blood cools? I don't know. I'm not an art guy.
But I am a guy excited about the cover for By The Stars. Your color work is getting better all the time!
I think all the pieces are great. I mean -- gorgeous great.
But my first impression of this one, even before reading the comments?
Something's off on the colors for me as well. I'm not gonna suggest which color goes or whatnot... You'll know better than I. But for me there's somethign about the mix of red, blue, gold and white and black that simply isn't working.
And I mean, really, it's not working. You've got this cool graphic simplicity on the pics -- and suddnely the bottom half of this one is as busy as a Disney Parade on Mainstreet, U.S.A.
Now if I were to make a suggestion about the colors (not that you're asking!) -- I'd think a few splotches of muted red -- like droplets of flying blood -- might work to make the falling man more concrete.
The blood, though, would have to be a little abstrct . Somewhere between the atmospheric work you've got going and a spray of blood.

But these are niggles. I dig the execution on this one.

What made you pick the colours though? The blue on ochre looks a bit ... unusual at first. Think it makes a stunning contrast though.
Now to finish writing 6 Bullets and make it sizzle like the artwork!
I had to click like...four times to get to this and not even to mention the scrolling down the screen to find it.
I demand instant gratification.
And it'd be cool to start to see them all together as they all come in.

Simplify.
